"Andrea, stop making out with the elephant!"

Well, yesterday was awesome. Riding ostriches was probably one of the most bizarre experiences of my life. They're in a corral running around and then these guys lasso them around the neck and put a bag over the ostrich's head. As soon as the bag goes over its head it chills out and just stands still. That's when you climb up on it and wrap your feet around the front and hold on to its wings...tightly. They actually feel really solid to sit on top of but they go kind of nuts once the bag comes off. The farther you lean back the faster they go so I was leaning back as far as I could at one point and this bird was just running laps. Once you're done you kind of just slide off and then you have nasty black feathery stuff all over you.

Oh I forgot to mention we were riding moto bikes to and from all these places which was also awesome. I want one! It was a manual so you shift with your feet but it wasn't too bad. We got up to 100 km/hr. Ahhhh so much fun! Okay so the next place we went to was so ride elephants. Asian elephants are so freaking cute. They're smaller and have little ears. So we climbed up onto this platform thing and then there was a sort of makeshift bench/saddle on its back that two people can sit in so I rode with Holly. Every step the elephant took rocked the bench back and forth. I'm surprised I didn't get motion sick because..that tends to happen to me a lot. The elephant driver guy got to sit directly on the elephant on its neck so I asked him about ten minutes in if he could switch with me and he did! It was such a sweet view and his ears were flapping back and forth against my calves. Their hair is actually surprisingly wirey so it's a good thing I had pants on. I also had a stash of bananas and sugar cane so I would tap on his head and he would bring his trunk back to get them from me. Sometimes he would also spray water on me or breathe on me relaly hard. And sometimes I snuck a kiss in. Elephants might just be the cutest animals in the world. We rode round on those for about an hour through the forest and over the grass plains.

Best weekend I've had here so far. Last night we went to the walking street again and I got an awesome new machete. Everyone was so tired by the time we got back that we all passed out at like 11.

  1. i like how you worry about getting motion sickness while on an elephant like you do when you ride buses.
